How Long Can The Pain Persist After Slip Disc Surgery?

I had surgery on a large slipped disc two years ago. Overall I'm fine, however I still have problems with pain in my lower back when I'm leaning forward to do something i.e put my socks on! Will the discomfort ever go? What could still be causing the pain?
