How Long Do Anal Fissures Causing Stinging Pain Take To Heal?

Hi, I have several cuts around my Anus and have had these for now over a year. I was told that it s anal fissures and should heal with time. I am worried it might be something more serious as now it has been over a year. I get a stinging pain during bowel movement but it doesn t last long after and is only worse during the movement of stool. I ve had light spots of bleeding but not consistently. I ve also felt like there is a swelling around it or perhaps a lump I can t tell. I m not sure what remedies can help as I ve tried almost everything to help.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain anal fissure occurs due to formation of tears in the anal mucosa and can occur due to conditions like Anal intercourse, excess constipation leading to straining to evacuate the bowels, putting of anal endoscope etc..
It can cause pain and bleeding during evaluating bowel..
You need not to worry as with proper medication it can resolve..
I would suggest you to consult a Proctologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Anoscopy can help in diagnosis..
In case of Anal fissure you can be advised to apply ointment containing Calcium channel blocker like Diltizem as it improves the blood flow in the area and help in faster healing..
A numbing ointment can be applied to relieve pain..
You can also be advised Sitz bath that is sitting in a warm water tub atleast 2 to 3 times a day especially after bowels..
You can also be advised stool softener and laxative to ease in passing stools and avoid constipation..
In case if it still does not resolve surgical treatment can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
