How Long Do Side Effects Of Dilaudid Prevail In The System?

I was injured 10 days ago. The ER gave me a shot of dilauded. I expressed to them numerous times how bad it made me feel. I had servere blurred vision, vomiting for 2 days, hot flashes, itching, sleep changes, no hunger, feel like I m in a fog. Yet they sent me home anyway. I figured I had a bad reaction to it. How long before this stuff completely leaves my system where I can start feeling better

Hi,

Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is a potent opioid pain medication that is used to treat moderate to severe pain. The duration of side effects of Dilaudid can vary from person to person depending on a variety of factors, including the dose, frequency of use, and individual sensitivity to the medication.

The half-life of Dilaudid is approximately 2-3 hours, meaning that half of the medication is eliminated from the body within that time frame. However, it can take several days for the medication to be fully cleared from the body. The side effects of Dilaudid may last for a similar length of time, depending on the individual.

Some common side effects of Dilaudid include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, constipation, headache, and dry mouth. These side effects may start to improve within a few days of discontinuing the medication. However, other side effects such as blurred vision, itching, and sleep changes may take longer to resolve.

If you continue to experience side effects after several days of discontinuing Dilaudid, you should consult with your healthcare provider. They may be able to provide additional guidance or recommend other medications or treatments to alleviate your symptoms.
