How Long Do Stitches On The Lips Take To Heal?

Dr. Removed visible stitches on today. Dead skin and dried blood still remain on top lip. I feel a stitch underneath. The doctor wasnt sure if he saw a stitch or if it was the tissue, due to the dried blood on top. The Doctor said when the dried blood and dead skin fall off, if i see any stitches to come back. How long will it take for the dried blood and dead skin to fall off? Will i have a scar once it falls off? Will the skin eventually cover the stitch? How long before that happens?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Stitches are generally removed on day 7 post procedure. If there is still some dried blood and dead skin I suggest you clean it gently with an antiseptic solution like Dettol or Savlon.
If post that you still feel the presence of the stitch kindly revisit your doctor for the suture removal.

Hope I have answered your query.
