General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Zyvox is an antibiotic well indicated in the management of many bacteria infections including skin/soft tissue infections like cellulitis. However, it may have side effects with thrombocytopenia, anemia, and decreased hemoglobin being very common. These side effects may give him all the symptoms you describe.Your Doctor will however always evaluate the risks and benefits of this drug before prescription. Also, since treatment will be for a short time, i will suggest he finishes his dose to avoid bacteria resistance. His system will recover from those symptoms in a few weeks as blood component formation will physiologically meet up with deficit.I will recommend good and balanced diet with enough rest.
Hope this will help
Best regards
