General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Taking cortisone for short duration does not have any effect of body weight.

However continuous treatment for more than 2 months will lead to weight gain.

After long use of cortisone sudden stopping must be avoided to prevent HPA axis imbalance.

So cortisone dose is tapered 5-10 mg per week and then stopped.

Regards
Dr. Hiren
