General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The half life of Doxycycline is 18 hours. The half life of a medicine is the time it takes for the amount of drug in the body to decrease by half. It takes approximately 3 to 5 half lives for a medicine to be mostly eliminated.

This means that your medicine should be eliminated in approximately 2 1/2 to 4 days. You should let your doctor know about your reaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
