Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just took a 6 panel swab drug test that came up negative on everything. I took 4 bars the night before. ( which benzos were tested for) My question is...they also used my saliva for a test that test for more drugs. I take only 10 mg of methadone a day and I was Curious if you knew if it wld come up positive. I went thru major withdrawals on my own coming from 40 mg to 10mg. I don t even feel the ten. I only take it for withdrawals. I tried to go to 0 mg but the withdrawals seemed so much harder so I stayed at ten. I had to take the test for cps. The father whom had been absent in my daughter s life is the one that called. I can t have my kids taken away. So can you please tell me if you think only 10 mg will show up and also if it wld show up anyway since the xenax didn t. I have horrible anxiety. I have been off dope etc for 5 yrs 1 month a week and 4 days. I think the meth messed my central nervous system up. I don t get messed up ever. And people can t even tell when I take Xanax. But it s the only thing that helps my body calm down. If I have an anxiety attack I like and poop at the same time. My heart physically hurts and my hands feel like they are asleep...sometimes it goes up further than my hands. My knees get so weak I can t walk. I never had this problem till I got clean. I need help. I know. But so many people abuse Xanax I don t know who to go to. Please help
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Methadone is an opioid used for opioid maintenance therapy, to help with tapering in people with opioid dependence, and for pain. Bio-availability and elimination half-life of methadone are subject to substantial inter-individual variability. Metabolic half life of methadone differs from its duration of action. The metabolic half life ranges between 8 to 59 hours. It is approximately 24 hours for opioid-tolerant people and 55 hours in opioid-naive people. Its stay in the body could vary considerably and can be detected even after 2 days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S.
