How Long Does Prednisone Stay In The System?

I was on a 5 day dose of 40 mg of prednisone due to an upper/lower respiratory infection. I finished my last dose on 7/30. I am a 67 year old female and have taken prednisone on and off during most of my adult life. Should the drug be out of my system by now or could I still be having residual side effect?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No need to worry for residual side effects of prednisone now.
Half life of prednisone is 24-36 hours.
So prednisone will be out of the body after one and half day of last dose.
So you are not having any more prednisone in your body and hence no need to worry for side effects.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
