How Long Does A Fracture On Foot Take To Heal?

I fractured the bone in my midfoot region i believe it is the navicular bone just the tip of it and my foot dr said it probably wouldn't heal but i have to wear a boot on my foot for 8 weeks because of insurance. He said he could just go in and pop the bone out. I forgot to ask him how long it would take to heal. I'm guessing day surgery. He is a foot surgeon. How long will it take to heal and could he just put stitches in it or would I have to wear a cast? the fracture is on the end of the bone closest to my ankle. I'm a 46 year old woman and had been walking 4 to 5 miles a day. 5'2" and 165 pounds.
