Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I got a blister on 2 of my fingertips at work last week from a friction burn, they eventually opened and scared. One has healed completely the other has healed except for a 3/4 inch long cut where the scar tissue has trouble knitting. The cut cant seem to heal or even improve. I do heavy labor at work in dirty condittions and I worry it wont heal before an infection gets in it. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can due to help it heal.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Since you are doing labor work, wound gap is common. Actually labor work causes constant mobilization of wound edges. So healing is very difficult in this situation. And yes, you are right. Risk of infection is Always there in open wounds. So you should avoid labor work for 1 week. Give time for healing. Your wound will mostly heal if you stop labor work for 1 week. If you can't stop work, then get done stitches. This will also work well for healing. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
