Hi I recently had knee surgery on my meniscus and I was wondering how long it usually takes to to bend the knee, it’s been about 3 weeks and I have maybe 10-15% that I can bend. The rest is very tight it feels like something is blocking my knee from bending. Do you have any advice?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It may take up to three months for pain and swelling to settle down. It can take up to a year for any leg swelling to disappear. Your new knee will continue to recover up to two years after your operation. During this time, scar tissue will heal and muscles will be restored by exercise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
