How Long Does A Patient At End Stage Of Liver Failure Survive?

my sister in law is living with me she will not see a Dr for her cirrhosis she was diagnosed with it last Aug 2010 treated for fluid in stomach drained of 4 liters in Aug then again in Oct , 5 liters was put on antibiotics IV she has all 30 symptoms or more of end stage liver failure now she is bleeding every week from her nose and vomiting once a week I asked her if she was vomiting blood she said no but she will not tell us the truth what the Drs told her in the hospital last year she only told me she has a dead liver. So she continues to drink she has drank since she was 14 years old she is 53 years old . She still drinks everyday gets herself out to get beer and vodka her confusion is worst then ever her bed room has a nasty sweet smell she is alittle yellow .the veins in her skin are getting worst and also live on over the counter water pills 2 to 4 daily never eats maybe 1 meal a day .She looks 9 mouths pregnant also sleep most of the days and up until 2 or 3 in the morning I feel I am going to wake up one morning and she will be in a coma or she will bleed out in her room. Her symptoms are much worst then when she moved in with us in april 2011 I need to know how much longer she has I told her this morning she need to go to the hospital and she went out she still goes out and drive but her confusion is scarring me

Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query.
Statistically, this ranges between 6-12 months but it is individual and depends on the cause of liver falure. In cases of alcoholic crirhosis it may be longer, and in tumors it may be shorter. If there is no possibility of liver transplantation then there is no some other teratemnt methods which can prolong life.

I hope I have answered your question.
Wish you good health. Regards
