Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I box at a gym approx. 4 times a week. in the last 5 weeks I ve had 2 rib injuries, both on the left side. the 1st injury was from a low punch at the back which shifted my ribs and caused a spasm to my left kidney and the ribs caught the bottom lobe of my liver. The 2nd injury was a punch that caught the side of my left breast and squashed my 5th rib into my 4th! the ribs are still rubbing together and I m still sore from internal bruising.I m doing a couple of stretching exercises and making sure I take deep breaths! how long should I take off from training, and more specifically from sparring! my trainer seems very dismissive about recovery, but I am concerned that my rib may detach as this happened 20months ago with the same rib, and I am the only woman at the gym and so always spar with men! I love fighting, but am very small in comparison to my sparring opponents!

As you are suffering from rib fracture . It may take around six weeks to heal a rib fracture. But if you have complicated fracture than sometimes it take more time to heal. But usually it takes six weeks to heal.
I hope my advice will help you a lot. Thanks and Regards. Dr Vijay
