Day 5 of tonsillitis Non strep. Still waiting for labs back from MD. Currently being treated with augmentin (875) bid and acyclovir 200 mg 5xdaily. I m experiencing severe lockjaw and pallet swelling, no fever. How long dos this take to resolve? On liquid diet for almost a week. Vegan and have lost 7 lbs.

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The limited mouth opening can be because of the peritonsillar abscess leading to pterygomandibular space infection. Nothing to be panic, consult an ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. You can take metronidazole along with augmentin(if you are not allergic). Do saline gargling. This inection will subside in 5 days. If it is not subsiding, then you need to get the abscess drained.
I hope I have answered your query, take care.
