How Long Does Disc Bulging Take To Recover Via Ayurveda Medicines?

Hello Docters, My age is 26.No sugar No BP.Height 5feet 9inches,weight 85 kgs,Father has arthritis in knees. I have bi-lateral disc bulge at L5-S1and L4-L5.C5-C6 also.I found this 5months ago I took Kati vasthi for 7 days and ela kizhi for another 7 days along with abyangam,i am using ayurvedic tablets and kashaayams. after treatment this is my 3rd day. I am still feeling the pain in the lower back and frequent radiating pain in the left leg. I do not when i am going get freedom from this pain. Please advice. Thanks in advance.

1. Before further proceeding with Ayurveda procedures make sure to check with Orthopedic surgeon to evaluate cause of back pain and radiation with necessary examination like SLR [straight leg raising] test and EHL weakness with investigations for any Autoimmune disorder [since father has arthritis].

2. If CT/MRI of spine reveals Stenosis then the above mentioned procedure are contraindicated since they will produce more edema [swelling] around the disc aggravating the symptoms.

3. In Ayurveda we usually treat on the line of ‘ग्रीवा वात’ and since radiation is there to left leg follow ‘गृध्रसी चिकित्सा’

i. Avoid: urad dal, curd, fish, jaggery, milk, incompatible and heavy food, suppression of natural urges, anxiety, grief, outdoor activities when sky is covered with clouds, and cold wind.
ii. Take: maize, horse gram, karela, dried ginger, garlic, ajwain,saunf, kali marich, saindhav lavan, hing, jeera, old ghee, lukewarm water, castor oil, light walking, sudation, warm clothes, garlic and ginger mixed butter milk [लस्सी].
iii. Fry 250 ml ginger juice in 250 ml of til tail, when 250 ml remains [make sure oil doesn't get burn], filter it after cooling and massage.
iv. Boil 1 spoon dried ginger [सौंठ] in 4 cups of water till 1 cup remains, filter it and add 2 spoon castor oil and drink.

PS. General Instructions
i. Maintain straight back posture while sitting or standing.
ii. Avoid bending forwards and lifting weights.
iii. Sleep on hard mattress.
iv. Gentle massage
v. back exercises: Leg rising in dorsal recumbent position, pushups, swimming.


Spine Management:
i. Relax the spine completely.
ii. Do not lie face down.
iii. Lie on your back with pillow under the knee.
iv. Lie on the side with a pillow between the knees.
v. Distract your mind from the pain, watch television, read light humorous stories, listen to soothing music.
vi. Take 4 spoons of Tulasi juice
4 spoons of ginger juice
4 spoons of honey and take for 1 month.
. Boil 100 gm black pepper powder in 300 ml til tail--- filter, cool and massage OR mix dried ginger in castor oil and massage.
