How Long Does Dissolvable Stitches Take To Disappear?

How long the dissolvable stitches will take to disappear? My daughter, 5 yo, had a forehead laceration with 2 internal and 6 external dissolvable stitches, three weeks ago. After three weeks the stitches did not dissolve, but they stick out and the edge of the injury looks red at times! How long it will take them to disappear? Or should I take her to the doctor to remove the dissolvable stitches? Thank you!
