How Long Does Facial Fungal Infection Take To Heal?

How long does it take for a fungal infection on the face to completely go away with oral and topical meds? Have had it for 3 weeks now. Am on diflucan daily and steroid cream topically. It has only gotten slightly better. Am seeing a Derm for treatment, but concerned as of now.

Hello dear,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I have read your query and understood your concern.

For fungal infection, you are correctly taking diffucan which is to be taken on weekly basis.
But topical steroid cream will worse it for sure. It reduces the itch and redness initially but otherwise the fungus will proliferate only.
I will advice you to apply topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole/sertraconazole/terbinafine twice a day over the lesions for atleast 2 weeks.
For itch, you may take antihistaminics like levocetrizine/fexofenadine in night time.
Do not share your towel and accesories withothers. It might spread to others.
Take care.
