How Long Does Influenza Take To Get Treated?

My 2 yr old grandson was diagnosed with Influenza B yesterday and I spent the day with him. My daughter in law is having a csection on May 8th and I will be helping with the new baby. My daughter in law and son and grandson are all on Tamiflu. How long would it be before I could get the flu since it is so very contagious?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The typical flu incubation period is between 24 hours and four days, with the average being two days. This means that if you are exposed to the influenza virus, you will start to experience flu symptoms between 24 hours and four days after the exposure. The symptoms will last for a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
