How Long Does It Take A Person With Induced Coma To Return To Normalcy?
My mother was induced into a coma Friday morning. Today they have begun weaning her from the sedatives and she has breathing on her own since Sunday without the ventilator. She still hasn t woken up yet. We have seen movement with her hand sat and arm movement. How long does this usually take before she awakens?

The regaining of consciousness depends on the sedatives or anesthesia medicine given as these have different half lives and different weaning off intervals. Also if any metabolic derangements or systemic illness or causes of brain encephalopathy are present like infections etc the time may get further delayed.
