When I pricked on the same hand and pressed for the blood to ooz out... I started bleeding from 2 places. 1 from the new wound and 1 from the last nite's wound. I am freeking out. How long does it take to heal such a small wound. Is it normal or there is some thing wrong? Pls reply dr. By the way my sugar is 140 now....
First, do calm down as nothing worrisome is happening to you.
Next, I usually advise my patients to use different sites when getting their blood sugar measured.
When you pressed to help the blood coming out, the pressure might have destroyed the newly-madel skin layer on the old pricked wound. That's why, it was bleeding when you measured the next morning. Try using different sites and won't face such problems again.
With regards to your blood sugar readings, you should set your own goals with your doctor depending on your actual health condition. Having a bs of 140 early in the morning is considered high. Can discuss with your doctor to change treatment strategy.
Hope it helped! Dr.Albana
