The doctor had said I had torn my eardrum.he gave me an antibiotic. But then the papers the release papers from the hospital said that I must keep it dry until it heals.my question is how long does it take the ear drum to heal
Understanding your concern. Perforation of ear drum or torn ear drum usually take 1 -2 months to heal completely . If perforation is big it require surgical procedure.
The most important thing in healing of ear drum is to keep your ear dry (as you also mention in query) until it heals and complete antibiotic course . Do not swim and cover your ear while taking shower . you can warm dry compresses to affected ear which will enhance healing.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
