How Long Does It Take To Cure Hyperthyroidism?

Diagnosed with hyperthyrodism. Loss of hair, sweating, fatigue, blood tests show high levels. How long will it take for my symptoms to reverse when I start taking medication? (will my hair grow back, will my appetite decrease and weight come back?)

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Symptoms usually get better or go away 1 to 8 weeks after you start taking the medicine.
It may take as long as 6 months for your thyroid hormone levels to become normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
