Hi Doc!! My Joy, 26 years old, mother of 2 boys via c section delivery for both. The first is last year july and my 2nd was just last June 24. I have a PCOS before that resulted to irregular period. Right now, i dont know if I still have it because after I gave birth last Year July, i got my period by the following month already. Then after that, I got pregnant. My question is, how soon possibly ovulation takes place after ceasarean? Is it possible to get pregnant within a month after c-section?
Hi Joy. There is no fixed rule as to when ovulation can occur after delivery, whether via normal vaginal delivery or C-section. Having PCOS can make it harder for you to fall pregnant but this does not guarantee contraception. Breasfeeding your baby exclusively (baby is fully dependent on your breastmilk for sustenance) may confer some protection but it is not 100%. So, it is safer to opt for protected sex. Bottomline, yes, it is possible to fall pregnant within a month of C-section.
