How Long Does It Take To Recover From Epididymitis?
Hi, I have been diagnosed with left epididymitis a few weeks ago and was given Bactria DS and 600 milligram Tylenol twice daily. The pain is gone but the swelling still remains. It also feels like there s a mass right on top of left epididymis. How long does this normally take to recover from?
Usually we give antibiotics for about 6-8 weeks in cases of epididymitis, and if we are giving Bactrim DS, the antibiotics may need to be given even for 10-12 weeks. The infection is likely to resolve by that time, but the swelling of the epididymitis usually will remain and there will always be a difference between the two sides which should not be a worry. You can get a repeat scanning of your scrotum after three months of treatment to know if the vascularity in the inflamed epididymis has come to normal.
