How Long Does It Take To Walk After Broken Mallelous?

Hello I m looking for some Orthopedic help . I ve broken my lateral malleolus a month and a half ago and just got rid of the plaster cast yesterday . I ve been wearing just a gauze since then but I couldn t walk yesterday . Today , I tried my best to and sort of did somehow but now the entire leg hurts a lot from the knee down . Maybe it s because I m overweight . And now , I have fever . I had two Paracetamols , but it didn t help . As a result I ve just replaced the gauze with a weight bearing brace and the walking is a little bit easier . Although I don t know if I should continue the walking for a while . It s just that I ve been missing out on my classes and exams in medical school for more than a month and so , I want to start going there . But , I m not sure if that s the best idea for now . Could you please tell me if I should start walking or take more rest for a while ? If no , then how long might it take for me to get back on my feet again ? And also should I take physiotherapy ? If so , then for how long ? Please help me out . Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
Immediately after removing the plaster cast, for few days it will be pain full to walk, if you can't manage your self, physiotherapy may be necessary.
You can practice with the crepe bandage on for few days. then you can attend the classes, with out difficulty.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
