How Long Does It Takes To Heal Degenerative Disc?

Hi I just found out the I have a degenerative disc, and it has caused me l5 to tear, and I have been told that it has caused a disc extrusion, and I am getting ready to do surgery, because it has torn, and I am in pain , it goes down my right side of my leg , is the recovery hard?

I am female and 37 years old I weigh 173 pounds
