Hello,

You have history of having ligament injury many years back. Presently your leg sounds when you walk. Noisy joints commonly occur due to crepitus when air gets inside soft tissues. Such symptom can also occur in case of cartilage or ligament tear. Osteoarthritis also may present with such symptom. You should not get bothered if there’s no pain, swelling or other symptoms. However, to be on the safer side you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP or orthopedics to detect air bubble inside the joint, if a tendon or ligament has snapped, degree of tear, etc.

Time taken for a ligament tear varies from individual to individual and is dependent on the type and severity of tear. Some tears take 2-3 moths to heal others may take even more than a year. Some ligament injuries are given conservative treatment. However, some of these injuries may require operative reconstructive surgery. Get examined by an orthopedic specialist at the earliest and get all required investigations done. You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
