How Long Does Muscle Spam Last During Tetanus?

My father has been hospitalized an diagnosed with tetanus since july 3 he was infected by cut to his foot by a peice of stick through his boot on june 26. My dad is 67 yrs old and suffer from high blood pressure,and diabetics. what i need to know is how long does the muscle spasm last, because after 8 days he is still having them. will he recover from it.
