Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a blood draw yesterday, and the nurse stuck the needle into my nerve. I felt a horrible pain down my arm and into my hand. she did not take the needle out right away, as she had managed to hit the vein. I went to the urgent care in the afternoon, complaining of nerve pain all up and down my arm. Dr. prescribed hydrocodone. Today, my hand keeps having those little zings of nerve pain and my arm is very sore. How long will this last? and is there anything that will help in the meantime?
It should subside in about 3-7 days time maximum. Apply a cold pack over the region for 2 days and then a warm compress over the region, nothing more required.
Best wishes.
