How Long Does Nicotine Stay In The Body To Pass Any Tests ?

Hi, yes I have had back problems for years, I am know going to the back dr. for surgery, I havent seen him yet, but am told you have to quit smoking before they will operate. Weell, as a smoker I want to smoke as long as I can before I have to stop and be able to pass the blood test . thank you How long will nicotine stay in my system and other chemicals to pass this test, I know I have to the surgery, but at the same time, I dont want to quit until the very last minute, Im sure you can understand

The duration for nicotine to be detected in the tests depends on what test is being used and whether the test is for nicotine or its metabolites like cotinine. However, in most cases, tests are able to detect traces of nicotine 3-4 days after last intake. In some cases, the tests are positive even 15-20 days later. Please remember that if you postpone it till the last moment, the withdrawal symptoms may make it difficult for you to tolerate the post-operative period, though it appears to me that you do not wish to quit smoking completely and shall resume smoking after the surgery.
