Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Long Does The HPV Take To Be Completely Out Of The Body?
I had oropharyngeal hpv cancer. Left tonsil squamous cell carcinoma - removed 4 years ago, 61 lymph nodes removed in left side of neck 4 weeks after tonsil was removed. Do I still heave the virus? If so can I transmit it through kissing, oral sex, or genital sex?
HPV is a virus and generally, there is no specific treatment to cure it. Sometimes, the body may fight the infection and cure it naturally, but this is not the case always. Patients may carry HPV for many years and there is no way to know if it will go out of your system or when.
As for transmitting it, if you have HPV in your oral or genital area, you may transmit it to the people that are in close contact with these parts of your body (kissing or intercourse).
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
