How Long Does The Amputee Wound Take To Heal?

Had a below knee amputation on Dec. 27, 2015. Sent to a long-term facility, ended up with an e.coli infection. What might have caused it? Back in the original hospital. Still using a wound vac; just started hyper oxygen chamber today. Should it be taking this log to heal? Thanks Eve
