How Long Does The Broken Leg Take To Heal?

I have a broken leg and the surgery has been rescheduled again. How long can it wait without effecting the healing or reducing the success if it healing. I'm 47 and my leg is broken at my ankle and it is in a fixator brace. They are planning to put metal plates on both sides of my leg during surgery. It has been 3 weeks since my accident.

Hello and welcome.

A plate and screw fixation takes at least 1 year for adequate healing, and to go about a removal of the plate and screws. But you should be able to return to your daily activities with a little bit of care within a month or so.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
