I m a light smoker and my husband is a pack a day smoker inside our home. I was given the opportunity 3 days ago to apply for an internal position at a hospital that just started a no nicotine policy and will give pre employment cotinine testing (only on new employees). Even though I couldn t see the job externally since I don t work there and was contacted directly by the Director of the program, will they still give me a cotinine test? My interview is tomorrow therefore I wasn t able to even attempt quitting social smoking .
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
I'm sorry that I will not be in a position to tell you whether the company would do a cotinine test on you or not. This entirely depends on the organisation's own drug screening policy, and such policies vary from organisation to organisation.
So, I would suggest that you contact the relevant authorities of the company to clarify if a cotinine test is usually done compulsorily for all employees (internal or external).
Wish you all the best.
