How Long Does The Effectiveness Of Vivitrol Last?
how long does it take for the vivitrol shot to 100% wear off? i was only on it for ome month and was supossed to go get it for the second time on wednesday (3 days) ago. but was advised not to because i am having surgery this coming week. but i am afraid that the medicane (narcotics) they will be having to give me will not work to their full effect

As you may know, Vivitrol blocks the effects of opioids (narcotics). The effects of the month-long injection are at their optimal for a month, but it takes longer for the drug to clear out of the system, in this case, approximately 5 to 10 days. Besides, the reason you might have needed the Vivitrol, in the first place, might also interfere with the effects of narcotics you might be given during surgery.
Another factor to consider is the type and location of anesthesia you will be getting. Therefore, I suggest you discuss this with your doctor prior to surgery in order to look into other options, such as using non-narcotic drugs for anesthesia or needing to increase the dose of narcotics you will need, and make an informed decision.
