Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had a deep cleaning done on my teeth and the bottom left side has a small ulcer on the gum and it has been hurting since 5 weeks ago. I took a steroid for 4 days and nothing has helped. It hurts more when I eat. How long can this ulcer last for?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain an ulcer over the gum that is hurting since 5 weeks needs to be checked clinically as a persisting Ulcer for 5 days is not a normal finding..
It can be due to infection in gums leading to first of a Gingival or Periodontal abscess..
Other thing is that in case if it happened after cleaning it might be due to deeper impaction of infection into gums leading to formation of abscess..
I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now I'm can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles, avoid spicy and hard foods and gargle with antiseptic mouthwash..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
