How Long Does Vaginal Bleeding Persist After Withdrawing From Norethisterone And Marvelon?

I was put on back-to-back Marvelon for 8 months plus constant Norethisterone for the last 5 months of that. I then had a laperoscapy and hysteroscapy during which a Mirena coil was fitted and adenomyosis, clubbed ovaries and multiple (several rather large) fibroids found which couldn’t be removed. I was then taken off the Marvelon and Norethisterone. I had 5 days of post-op bleeding then very very severe cramping accompanied by the start of heavy withdrawal bleeding which has now been going on for 12 days. Two of those days the flow reduced but then came back. Is this normal? How long can I expect this heavier withdrawal bleeding to go on for?

Hi,

It will settle by itself in six to eight days.

If bleeding is severe you can take drugs like Tranexamic Acid to control bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
