Hi, I came down with Tonsillitis late Saturday night. Monday morning my doctor put me on Amox and advil as well as salt water gargle. I have been battling back but for some reason every night I get a recurring high fever of around 102.8. Moreover, my tonsils still have puss on them and the left side of my neck is still swollen a little bit. I would go to my doctor, but I do not have insurance and the bills add up. How concerned should I be? what is the typical length of time for tonsillitis to heal?
Most cases of viral tonsillitis resolve within 7-10 days with watchful waiting. When treated with antibiotics, strep throat can be cured most of the time with a single course of antibiotics, and individuals will begin to feel better within 24-48 hours.
