How Long It Will Take To Cure Stitches Of A Hysterectomy And Vaginal Cuff Repair?
I had a hystertomy in sept 2012. 9 weeks later I had an emergcy sugery for vaginal cuff repair. the doc in the er said she put stronger stitches in me and the first doc who did the hys. put thin stitches in me how long do you think I will be out of work
Sometimes postoperatively the sutures may get loosen or break due to causes like pelvic infection, pressure from abdomen, strenuous activity, etc. In that case resuturing may require.
Usually to repair the vaginal cuff, delayed absorbable suture like Vicryl will be used. It will hold its tensile strength for two to three weeks and takes around 8 to 10 weeks for complete absorption by hydrolysis.
So as you have undergone the vaginal cuff suturing twice, better to wait for 21/2 to 3 months to go for your work. Before going to work, get examined by your doctor once and get advice regarding fitness.
Even after starting the work also, try to avoid strenuous work, heavy weight lifting etc. for first two months.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
