Dear, For unsafe ear surgery usually a large cavity is prepared to ensure that cholesteatoma is not formed again and the healing of cavity can take any where from 3 months to 6 months depending upon the size of cavity. However, the discharge should stop with in one to two weeks with only local antibiotic drops, however, if its not stopping a visit to the operating surgeon is required for finding out the reason for discharge. Further I suggest a regular visit to the operating surgeon for proper care of cavity for at least monthly for 6 month or till cavity heals perfectly
