How Long Should Brolene Eye Drops Be Used For Conjunctivitis?

Hi,

I've used brolene for child's conjunctivitis and stopped after 3 days because improved. After 2-3 days seems to be coming back. Should I have continued longer? or is Chlorsig a better choice? how long should I continue even if it seems better.

Thank you

Thanks for raising your concern and here is/are recommended guidelines:

1. Brolene eye drops contain propamidine which is used in bacterial conjunctivitis of the eye or eyelid and prevents bacteria from multiplying.

2. This medicine should not be used for more than 2 days without first consulting your attending Doctor [so if three days have gone by check with an Ophthalmologist for eye examination]

3. Chlorsig contains chloramphenicol and is a broad spectrum antibiotic also used to treat bacterial conjuctivitis involving the mucous membrane of the surface of eye and should be used every 4 hourly for 5 days but make sure to check with your doctor

4. If Conjunctivitis is not responding to conventional topical antibiotics referral is necessary
