How Long Should Hydroxyurea Be Taken?

I have been diagnosed with polyglysemia Vera and am taking hydroxy-urea 500mg 4 times a week 1 pill. Will I have to take these the rest of my life? I am in good health otherwise and am 87 yrs, My blood tests show a RDW of 23.6 which has me concerned. Should I be? Would appreciate a reply. Thank you.

Are you asking about Polycythemia Vera? If it is, yes you have to take this medicine life long, between that you have regular check blood count.
