General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The medications(steroid&hydroxychloroquon) he is presently getting are to control an acute flare-up of SLE.

Mostly they are given for a period of 3 months to 1 year (depending on the severity of flare up &involvement of vital organs).

And applied as and when needful. He would be then maintained on immunosuppressants and vitamin D supplements along with lifestyle changes.

In absence of involvement of vital organs like kidneys, he would have good chances to live a normal life with maintenance treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
