How Long Should Thyronorm Tablets Be Taken?

Hi Doc, My test results are T3- 119.97 T4-8.00 TSH- 6.73 My doctor has been me 25mg thyronorm tablets and I have taken it for 5weeks now. I have severe hair loslosss and put on weight also. I want to stop thyronorm as I have been with this range of results for a while with no difference. How long should I take it? Life long? Please help me stop this. Regards, Jesica

Hello

Generally thyroid supplementation require life long treatment.You shouldn't discontinue tablets.
Your symptoms may be related to hypothroid state.
You are rightly prescribed 25 micrograms of thyroid tablet.
You should take it in morning in empty stomach,it helps in better absorption of thyroid tablets.
You may also need estimation of ATPO antibodies to rule out autoimmune causes.
I also suggest for ultrasound of neck to see any thyroid abnormality.
