How Long Should Tramadol Be Taken For Pain Relief After Knee Replacement?

I am on Tramadol for pain relief after a knee replacement. How long do you think I should take this for. I have to take four tablets a day with two paracetamol. I had surgery n February 20th. I know it is important to take pain relief so that I am able to do the exercises necessary for a successful knee replacement but if I should take tramadol for too much longer can you name any replacement and effective pain killers, please.
