How Long Should Be Waited To Walk After A Surgery In The Lower Shin?

hi i have borke my leg and had to have an operation it has 6 weeks since i broke my tibia a phibula in my lower shin i havent got a cast on and it was been 2 weeks since my doctor said i can start putting weight on it do you rekon it is too soon to try and walk ?.
