How Long Should Silvadene Be Used On A Burn On My Hand?

How long should silvadene be used on a 2nd to 3rd degree burn on my forarm and hand, from a wood burning stove? Also, should it be once or twice a day, and have a dressing on it continuously? I am 62 yrs old, female, and I accidently fell into the stove while moving the wood around. I also have medical knowledge, have been a nurse for over 30 yrs now.

Hi,

You can use it for 2-3 weeks. It should be applied once a day and then covered with a dressing. This will help in improving it.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist
