How Long Take For Sugar Pills To Be Effective?

Hi there! I ve been on the pill for about two weeks now. I started on the sugar pills on the first day of my period,on May 2nd, and have taken 9 of the beige pills, that are in the green section of the package. I was wondering how long I have to wait until the pills will be effective?
