How Long Will Ativan Given Through IV Remain In The System?

I was given Ativan through IV in the hospital from last Thursday-Saturday approximately every 4-6 hours. I have had a urine drug test Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of this week and I am still testing positive even though the last time it was administered to me was Saturday afternoon. I have another drug test on Monday. Will it be out of my system by then? That will be Day 9.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The half life of a drug is the time it takes for the amount of the drug in the system to decrease by half.
It takes approximately 3 to 5 half lives for most of a medication to leave the body completely.

The half life of ativan is 12 to 20 hours, this means that it may take 36 hours to 100 hours (approximately 4 days).
By day 9, the test should not be able to detect the medication.

I hope this helps
